We are proud to announce the recipients of this year’s secondary school scholarships! Each year, top local students are selected to receive scholarships to attend Oldeani Secondary School. The scholarships are given in memory of very special members of the Tanzanian Children’s Fund family and we are grateful to be able to award this opportunity in their honor.
Boniface Benedict is the recipient of the Lisa Cronan Scholarship and is 14 years old. He is the top student for most exams in school and his favorite subject is Science. Boniface wants to be a doctor when he grows up because he wants to treat sick people and save lives. He is looking forward to continuing his education at Oldeani Secondary School and studying hard!
Juvenali Thiophili is the recipient of the Ralph and Natalie Howell Scholarship and is 13 years old. Juvenali is one of the top 5 students on most exams and his favorite subject is Mathematics. Juvenali wants to be a doctor in Tanzania when he grows up. He is looking forward to learning new things at Oldeani Secondary School and joining the Oldeani soccer team as goalkeeper!
Maria Leonadi is a Kristy LeMond Scholarship winner and is 14 years old. She was a top-performing student on most exams at Gyetighi Primary School, where she was also Head Girl and Netball Captain. She won the leadership award and it is not hard to see why – she is outgoing and warm and has an infectious smile. Maria wants to be a pilot when she grows up and travel the world. Her favorite subject is English and the first place she would like to travel to is America. Maria is looking forward to starting at Oldeani Secondary School because she feels that education is the key to a better future.
Paskalina Albert is a also a Kristy LeMond Scholarship recipient. She is 14 years old and her favorite subject is Mathematics. Paskalina was in Girls Club at Gyetighi, where she enjoyed working in the garden. She is a hard worker and a strong student, and wants to be a teacher when she grows up so she can educate others. She is looking forward to starting Oldeani Secondary School and starting on her path to becoming a teacher.
Jackline Anney is a Kristy LeMond Scholarship winner and is 16 years old. Her favorite subject is History, and she particularly likes studying World History. When Jackline grows up she wants to be a teacher because she wants to improve education in Tanzania. She is looking forward to studying hard in secondary school at Oldeani and playing soccer.
