Celebrating The RVWG Superwomen!

On March 8th, TCF celebrated International Women’s Day by giving thanks to all the incredible women who make our work possible! A special gathering was held for the Rift Valley Women’s Group (RVWG) Mamas at their brand-new workspace located in Oldeani.

It has been ten years since the launch of RVWG, so the Mamas were eager to reflect on how far they have come as they swapped stories of hard work, strength, and perseverance.

Victoria Mulda, who has been involved with RVWG since the beginning, shared “I am very proud of where I am today. Thanks to this program, I was able to build my own house and provide a better life for my family. Being respected by society for being a woman in business has given me so much confidence.”

The new workspace is an exciting milestone as it has been designed to cater to the needs of our dedicated Mamas! It includes three working rooms, a washroom, a kitchen, and an outdoor area for dying batik fabrics.  Most importantly, each Mama has their own desk with their very own sewing machine in a space that has consistent access to electricity.

One of the key advantages of this workspace is that it is accessible 24/7. This means that the Mamas can work on their products whenever they want, which allows them to have a better work-life balance. Additionally, having their own workspace gives them the freedom to work in a dedicated and uninterrupted environment, as opposed to working at home or in the homes of relatives where space may be limited.

“This new space will help us improve the quality of each product and increase production without constant interruptions.” Mama Victoria explained.

Overall the International Women’s Day celebration was filled with immense gratitude and happiness that could be felt from every Mama. The room was alive with laughter as everyone sang and danced, proclaiming “WE ARE SUPERWOMEN!”

When we asked Mama Victoria how she would define RVWG she responded “unity and love” and we couldn’t agree more! These women are an inspiring example to those living in the Oldeani community. They demonstrate the power and importance of believing in yourself as you work towards your dreams. We cannot wait to see what the future holds as this new workspace is just the start!
