To sponsor an orphan in Tanzania is to give a child the opportunity to go to school. Although education is free in Tanzania, there are school fees for all students who go to government-run schools as well as private schools. Parents must pay for the mid-day meal, uniforms, school books, paper and pencils in order to send their children to primary school.
As a sponsor, you will give a child the feeling that he or she is special. For children who have lost their homes and families there can be no greater gift than to know someone in the world cares about them. Our volunteers at the Children’s Village will help children to correspond with their sponsors.
Sponsorship Levels for Primary School Education:
In Tanzania primary school begins with Standard 1 through Standard 7 classes or Grades 1-7. Secondary school begins with Form 1 through 6 and is equivalent to junior high and high school.
Sponsorship for Secondary School Education:
Currently, we are sponsoring 18 exceptional students in secondary school. These students have graduated from primary school, but their parents couldn’t afford to send them to secondary school. If you would like to sponsor one student for one year of secondary school education, the fee is $2,000 per year.
If you want to sponsor a child, send a check payable to Tanzanian Children’s Fund with a note that you would like to sponsor one of our children. Then mail to:
