Gyetighi Health Education
Gyetighi Primary School now offers health classes as a part of the curriculum for students in standards three through seven. We are very excited to introduce this program to Gyetighi, the first of its kind embraced by the local community.
The year begins with general health lessons: hand washing, worm prevention, first aid for cuts and burns, and malaria prevention (including a Swahili video from the Buzz and Bite Malaria program). It then continues on to sexual health issues, such reproductive health and sexual violence.
This program has been met with stong public support and positive reinforcement from parents.
Community Health Education
We incorporate health education initatives in our community outreach programs. Specifically, health education is available at the bi-monthy free clinic at RVCV and in outreach programs such as the Sangoma drama troup, which focuses on domestic abuse and general health practices.
